On behalf of everyone at Briggs Library, welcome to the 2007/2008 school year. I especially want to send greetings to students, faculty, and staff who are new to SDSU. Like you, I’m also new to the university, having traded the University of Colorado at Denver for the smaller but equally challenging world of Brookings and SDSU. If you haven’t visited your Library recently, you will discover many improvements when you enter our doors this year—whether the doorways are on our building or on our web pages. These include more print and electronic resources, upgraded computers, a graduate student lab, wireless printing, and ILLiad, an easy way to borrow materials from other libraries. For 2007/2008 we’ll continue to improve our services to you with a special focus on making the library building a more comfortable place in which to meet and study.
One of the perks of being a new dean is the chance to meet so many interesting people for the first time. I welcome the chance to meet you, whether in person or by e-mail or phone. You will find me in Room 108 of Briggs Library or at David.Gleim@sdstate.edu or 605-688-5106.
Wishing you a great year,
Dean of Libraries
