June is Gay and Lesbian Pride Month

June 5, 2007

On June 2nd, 2000, President William Jefferson Clinton proclaimed June Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.  The President asserted, “Recognizing the joys and sorrows that the gay and lesbian movement has witnessed and the work that remains to be done, we observe Gay and Lesbian Pride Month and celebrate the progress we have made in creating a society more inclusive and accepting of gays and lesbians.”  In honor of this occassion the library has created a research guide for anyone who wishes  to learn more about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people, history and the issues these groups face.  To access the guide, simply click here Gay and Lesbian Pride Month or you may also click on the link featured prominently on the home page.
